Women’s shoes are worn for a variety of reasons. Obviously, on a practical level, footwear is needed to get around without sustaining damage to this area of the body.
However, it is not only this that motivates female shoppers. Buying such items can also help them keep up with ladies’ fashion and make them feel more attractive.
With this in mind, Footwear News recently ran a competition among women’s shoes to find the sexiest pair.
The contest was staged in partnership with Saks Fifth Avenue and votes were recorded online.
In total, nearly 8,000 consumers across America with an interest in ladies’ fashion cast their votes.
There were 23 different examples of footwear to choose between and the winners turned out to be a pair by French designer Christian Louboutin.
He took victory with his Swarovski crystal-embellished Maralena mesh peep-toe pumps.
The creation has a stiletto heel measuring five-and-a-half inches.
Those who took part by casting their votes were entered into competitions to win gift card.
Commenting on what makes a shoe sexy, designer Manolo Blahnik told the Boston Globe that showing a hint of flesh is important.
She stated: “You see hands all the time. You see faces all the time. But the toes, that’s something you don’t always see.
“A sexy shoe has open straps of leather on the foot. The most important thing is that you have to do it beautifully because if you show too much toe, it can be kind of vulgar.”
Another feature of shoes that many people consider to be crucial for achieving attractiveness is a heel.
This elongates the calve and makes the leg look more slender.
While they can sometimes be a struggle to walk in, high heels are a staple in many women’s wardrobes and some would not consider going out without them on.
