Lots of people around the world love donning their yoga clothes and getting stuck into the activities and one celebrity who shares this passion is Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr. The glamorous Brunette is even offering a free class for 500 people.
She announced that the first 500 individuals who uploaded their own challenges on Earth Hour’s YouTube page would be rewarded with a pass to her class in Sydney, which will take place sometime later this year.
Kerr was announced as an Earth Hour global ambassador for the second year running and is obviously taking her role seriously.
Earth Hour started in 2006 when a group of people in Sydney got together to show their support for climate change action. The following year, 2.2 million individuals and over 2,000 businesses in Australia’s largest city turned off their lights for an hour to take a stand against global warming.
It has grown year-on-year since then and in 2011, Earth Hour saw hundreds of millions of people in a total of 135 countries kill their lights for an hour. This year’s event took place on March 31st.
By offering to don her yoga wear and stage a free class, Kerr was obviously keen to boost support for the cause. Before Earth Hour, the A-lister, who rose to fame in 2007 as one of the Victoria’s Secret Angels, told AAP: “I hope my first challenge inspires my friends, family and fans to make their own promise for the environment. I believe that everyone has the power to change the world that we live in.
“If we all adopt simple practices like recycling, switching to energy-efficient lighting or paperless banking then we can make a difference together.”
Some of those who participated in this year’s Earth Hour by switching their lights off might have taken the opportunity to slip into their yoga clothes and engage in some exercises.
