Whilst we may do a pretty good job of making our country look beautiful over the Christmas period, once the festive season is behind us it is often a great deal harder to visit places that truly embrace the winter. As such, the last few months of winter can feel somewhat long and dreary with only the hope of a slightly dryer than normal spring to keep us going.
Yet there are plenty of places on our own doorstep that really embrace winter, and whether you are looking for edifices bathed in light on the long winter nights or whether you want to head across plumes of snow on a skidoo, then there are many places you can head to find a real winter wonderland, even once the weather starts getting warmer here.
Cross channel ferries can take you to any number of exciting destination, and with the likes of Paris a mere few hours from the coast, the majority of people can find themselves enjoying winter in the most attractive of cities in no time at all and, with cheap ferries going all the time, it is not only cheap to get there, but also easy to go for as long or as short a time as you like.
Whilst cross channel ferries offer access to any number of beautiful winter sights, heading the opposite way could see you ending up in Northern Europe and Scandinavia far quicker than you might have realised. No matter whether you head in December or March, the likes of Sweden and Norway are going to be breathtaking places to behold all winter long and, again, cheap ferries will make this attainable and cost effective for almost anyone.
So if you’re tired of British winters, don’t just wait for the dampness of spring – see winter as it really should be in some of the most beautiful places on earth that are right in our own backyard.
