Saving money can be hard for all of us. After all, not only can it sometimes be hard to actually have any money left at the end of a month, it is also likely that we will want to treat ourselves on the months when we do have something a little extra.
However, there are plenty of ways to save money without having to limit the fun you are able to have.
Firstly, remember that pennies make pounds. Try to save as much of your spare change as you can. Putting aside a few coins here are there will mean that you never miss the money you save, but you could be surprised just how quickly that money adds up.
Next, try simply looking at ways that you can pay less for the things you buy. Hunt around for cheaper petrol, items that are on sale, then buy groceries from cheaper supermarkets or local shops, and think of cheaper ways of getting around. Whether you share lifts or trade flying abroad for buying cheap ferry tickets, there are many ways to reduce your monthly outgoings, but get the same result.
Take cheap ferry tickets, for example. Many of us simply don’t think about just how much money could be saved by using ferry crossings instead of flights and not only are you likely to save money, but you could also find that ferry crossings actually allow you to get away more often, whilst still spending less overall.
Finally, start small. Trying to plough in huge amounts of money into a savings account will leave you feeling like you are working for nothing. If you start small, you will barely notice that you have less disposable income and therefore you are far more likely to keep at it and see real, long term results.
