A flat cap is a hat which is curved and which has a narrow rigid bill which is angled downward. The cap has been around since the 14th Century, where it was invented as a casual piece of attire. It has been known by many names over the years, including, ‘Tudor Bonnet’ and ‘Scally Cap’ but they are now just referred to as flat caps in most circumstances.

Traditionally, flat caps were made from stylish tweed materials and, although this is still a popular choice for flat caps, they are now available in a whole host of different materials and colours, including cotton.
