Madonna has never been known for her shy and retiring side and often the ladies’ fashion ensembles she dons are designed to shock. However, during a recent event the songstress was pictured wearing an understated dress. The combination of women’s clothes she wore at the New York Costume Institute Gala was widely praised by onlookers and industry commentators, Hello! reports.
She wore a teal-hued silk gown designed by Stella McCartney. The garment was embroidered with delicate sequin stars and was floor length with a small train. To go with the outfit, she wore her hair lose and falling over her shoulders in soft, blonde waves, while her scarlet red lipstick completed her ’20s look.
Hello! pointed out that the combination was much more successful than the ladies’ fashion creation she wore two years ago at the same event. Then, she turned up in an outfit that was a similar colour but was inspired by an ’80s theme. While the shade was almost the same, the outfits couldn’t have been more different. The publication commented: “Many thought the turquoise ruched mini-dress, which was teamed with knee high black boots and that quirky hair-piece, didn’t work.”
Completed with special ‘bunny ears’ the ensemble was the work of Louis Vuitton. Madonna also donned thigh-high black boots and jewelled black fingerless gloves, along with a teal coloured hairpiece tied around a top knot.
While the celebrity, who is now 52 years old and has separated from former partner Guy Ritchie, is known for her love of eccentric women’s clothes, she is by no means the most renowned for such things. Fellow singer Lady Gaga is particularly associated with wacky outfit choices and is constantly pushing the boundaries of fashion. Not long ago she was pictured sporting special heelless boots that left onlookers somewhat surprised and confused.
