Ladies’ fashion is constantly evolving and what is in vogue now may not be in a matter of months. According to one commentator, those keen to get the most from their choices of women’s clothes this summer should pay particular attention to their choices of lipsticks.
Writing in the Scottish Daily Record, Alison Kerr claimed this is the “year of the lipstick”. She noted that so far this spring, new versions of such products have been launched by Chanel, Estee Lauder, No7 and Clarins. Meanwhile, revamped offerings from Dior Addict and Guerlain Rouge Automatique are also to be released.
The writer added: “After all, it’s hard to resist the way lipstick can lift the spirits by brightening the smile. Not only that, lipstick is a shortcut to glamour and can instantly transform your appearance.”
She also quoted a comment once made by actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who said: “Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That, or a kick-ass red lipstick.”
Ms Kerr claimed that there is a lipstick for everyone. She said: “For those who want a signature colour to see them through the ups and downs of life to those who want to stay bang on trend and are replacing nude shades with brights for summer.”
Meanwhile, she pointed out that lipsticks have been around for thousands of years. For example, the ancient civilisations of Mesopotamia and Egypt both made use of such products. During these times, both men and women painted their lips using natural dyes.
Throughout the ages, the colours considered to be attractive and trendy have changed and this process shows no sign of stopping. As with women’s clothes and other ladies’ fashion accessories, it is now possible for people to order lipsticks over the web as well as in high street shops.
