The room in which food is prepared is often described as the heart of the home and so kitchen design is very important. Therefore, experts advise that consumers put considerable thought into details such as kitchen doors and other features that can either add to or detract from the impression such a space leaves.
One homeowner who is pleased with her replacement kitchen doors and other aspects of her cooking area is Sarah Michaels.
Talking to the Montreal Gazette, the financial officer noted she is new to renovation projects. However, with the help of a contractor, she swapped the carved oak cabinets she had for a new cherry storage system.
Commenting on the results, the thrilled property owner said: “For the first time since I moved in two years ago, I love walking into my kitchen.”
She added: “What a difference that one change made. I wish I had done it sooner!”
Meanwhile, home design expert Frank Turco noted that there are many quick and easy things that people can do to spruce up this part of their houses.
He went on to say that adding vibrant colours to the area behind a sink can enhance it.
The specialist added: “It’s like jewellery for the kitchen. A fancy backsplash can really dress up a kitchen.”
Also commenting on the topic, interior designer Livia Fiset claimed that having good quality countertops is crucial.
She said: “It will raise the whole level of the kitchen, from a design standpoint. But also, you’re pretty much guaranteed to recoup your investment when it comes time to sell. It could be what sets you apart from the other comparable listings in your area.”
Consumers may be particularly eager to boost the value of their residences at present given the tough housing market conditions, which are making it difficult for homeowners to achieve their asking prices.
