A commercial van insurance provider has been awarded Entrepreneur of the Year for 2011, in a competition aimed at recognising and rewarding outstanding businesses in Stoke-on-Trent. Autonet Insurance has grown rapidly since 1998, when they had just four members of staff. In 2012, that figure has risen to 450, more than 100 times the number they started with.
The company now turns over more than £80 million per year and provides van insurance quotes around the country. In fact, they have risen to become the UK’s largest independent commercial van insurance broker and one of Stoke-on-Trent’s biggest employers.
The Entrepreneur of the Year award is an indicator of how important Autonet Insurance is to the local area and was given in recognition of outstanding success over a very short period of time. While a great accolade, it was not the first to be awarded to the company. In 2010, they received the prestigious Personal Lines Broker of the Year award from the Insurance Times. They were also finalists in the Broker of the Year category at the British Insurance Awards in 2010, and in several other well-regarded competitions.
Autonet Insurance continue to build on their achievements and have launched major recruitment initiatives aimed squarely at attracting high-quality talent into a fast-growing business.
