According to UsedCarExpert.co.uk, the average price of a second-hand car in the UK has dropped by 1.5 per cent since January of this year. In total, 11 out of 12 regions across the country saw used car values decline.
The south-west of England was identified as the cheapest place to get a vehicle of this kind. Average prices there were said to be £7,506, which was £1,870 lower than the rest of the UK. At the other end of the scale, the north-east was said to be the most expensive area in which to purchase used cars, with vehicles there going for an average of £10,427.
Commenting on the figures, UsedCarExpert.co.uk’s editor Matthew Tumbridge said: “There are large regional variations in car prices, but the overall national picture is that prices have dropped. This is a result of the weak economy, motorists keeping their cars for longer and the continued pressure on consumers’ wallets from rising motoring costs.”
He added that it pays off for motorists to shop around to get the best deals as they can save up to £3,000 if they are prepared to venture further afield.
Meanwhile, it is also beneficial for people to do their research when they are after short term car insurance. If they are savvy, they can benefit from cheap temporary car insurance, helping them to reduce the amount of money they spend on their motoring.
