Lockers have long played a key role in such public places as swimming pools, gyms and schools, providing a place where valuable items can be temporarily kept whilst their owner tends to other business.
The advantages of such a means of storage for the people that directly use it is fairly evident – it ensures that the stored items are secure until they are ready to retrieve, which is important given that such users are often unable to keep hold of such items themselves whilst they are in a classroom or playing sports.
For the organisation that is investing in such lockers, however, there are other priorities to bear in mind when they are choosing the right ones… such as build quality, size, shape and cost. It is at this point that one tends to consider the exact material that they’d like their lockers to be made out of, with the main choices being plastic, metal and wood.
Out of these three, wood is perhaps the least spotted in major public places, although it does have the advantage of contributing to a more traditional feel, which may make it a great choice for an office. In contrast, a locker that is made out of metal will certainly make for a more modern overall look, whilst they are also often very tough and can be specified with some of the latest lock technologies. If there is an obvious downside to metal lockers, however, it is that they can rust in damp and wet conditions.
This is where you may wish to consider the merits of plastic lockers. These lockers, after all, can be made out of the kind of tough plastic that makes them very difficult to dent, scratch or vandalise, whilst the non-corrosive nature of plastic lockers also makes them highly suitable for such environments as gyms, swimming pools and oil rigs.
