Okay, so it probably isn’t too hard a job being a pet. Lazing about all day and having all your food prepared for you doesn’t lead to a great deal of stress or the biggest urge to get away from it all. And yet, taking your pet away with you on holiday can be beneficial for both you and them. Not only will your pet get to experience something outside their usual comfort zone and enjoy the freedom and novelty of a brand new environment, but you will also get the joy of spending your break with your pet and find that you don’t have to pay the high rates associated with kennels and catteries, making your holiday even cheaper.
However, if you wish to take your pet away, there are a few things to bear in mind. First off, don’t stray too far. Not only will cross channel ferries be the easiest way to take your pets away, but many other forms of transport might not be able to accommodate your pet. However, if you are going too far, they may well get fed up with being sat in a car for such long periods of time so choose your destinations and ferry tickets wisely.
Next, be sure they have a passport should they need one and that they have all their vaccinations and checks before they go. On top of this, it is wise to take a good supply of food to ensure that they don’t get ill when they are away. Whilst cross channel ferries aren’t going to be taking you to places that are too exotic, they still may have food your pet is not used to.
Finally, make sure you choose a hotel or campsite that is pet-friendly. Once you have compiled your check list and bought your ferry tickets, all that is left is to give your pet a whole new experience and have a holiday that is filled with love.
