Keep Your Spirits Up This January

We didn’t really need scientists to tell us that mid January is a depressing time of the year – yet, they did anyway. The third Monday of January has been singled out as the most depressing day of all, when the memories of Christmas have faded and the long, dark nights exacerbate any seasonal affective disorder whilst we sit in our houses, saving money after the extortionate costs of Christmas.

Also, now that we assume that this date is a depressing one, it seems as though we are more likely to be depressed. In other words, scientists made the day even more depressing. Thanks, guys.

However, just because it tends to be a quieter, darker and more subdued time of year, it doesn’t mean it has to be depressing. All it needs is the right approach.

The long winter nights give us ample opportunity to quite literally light up our lives. Instead of stripping the house down once Christmas is over, why not get some solar garden lights and give your home a little winter boost. By using solar garden lighting not only will your house look far more beautiful and inviting, but you also get to enjoy these benefits without having to pay a penny extra for your energy bills.

If you really want to beat that potential Black Monday, it will be the little things that will really lift your spirits. From simple solar powered fairy lights to actually just wrapping up warm and taking walks in the most beautiful areas of the country, there are all manner of different ways to ensure that you can feel extremely rewarded, without worrying about the cost.

Whatever you choose to do this January, simply remember to ignore the doom and gloom that newspapers and scientists might tell you about and make your home, and indeed your life, as beautiful as it can be.
