Many celebrities around the world are known for their love of fashion accessories and jewellery. Knowing this, a gang had been targeting the homes of the stars to steal luxury goods. However, the group’s activities have come to an end and a second of its members is now in jail.
Rachel Lee, who is described as the leader of the ‘bling ring’ gang, pleaded no contest to breaking into the house of reality TV star Audrina Patridge, who is known for being one of the four original cast members featured on MTV series The Hills and is also an actress and model.
Patridge is by no means the only Hollywood personality to have been affected by the gang. Others include Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Orlando Bloom.
Members of the group studied celebrity magazines to pick out the fashion accessories and jewellery they wanted and used internet satellite maps of the victims’ abodes to decide how they would break in.
In January last year, Ms Lee was arrested for the burglary 11 months previously of Patridge. In the incident, over £15,000 of designer luggage, clothing and shoes were taken. She is the second member of the gang to have been sentenced.
After hearing of cases like this, many celebrities may review their security provisions. Because of their high-profile statuses and significant wealth, they are prime targets for burglars. Therefore, it is vital that they have adequate measures in place to deter thieves.
Meanwhile, anyone who wants to stock up on fashion items in a legal, more conventional way can do so quickly and easily online. Indeed, it has never been simpler or more convenient for individuals to find the perfect items. All they need is a web connection and a spare few minutes. Also, there are many great deals out there for consumers to take advantage of.
