This time of year is a popular one for the giving and receiving of flowers. The festive season has just come to an end and during the time leading up to December 25th, many consumers order flowers online and send flowers to loved ones.
But the giving of floral offerings does not stop there. Now, florists across the land are preparing for Valentine’s Day next month. This also provides a significant incentive for people to order flowers online and send flowers to their partners.
However, not many people get to hand over their arrangements to royalty.
Making an exception to this, ten-year-old Emily Metcalf recently gave a bouquet to the Princess Royal during an event in East Yorkshire, the Hull Daily Mail reports.
The youngster was able to meet and talk to the VIP when she visited Hornsea Inshore Rescue’s boathouse. Emily helps raise money for the charity, which is an independent rescue service manned entirely by volunteers. Her father is also involved in the organisation. He is one of the individuals who travels out on the rescue boats when people are in danger.
Commenting on the occasion, the schoolgirl said: “When my dad told me I would be handing her some flowers I was really excited but very nervous. I had been practising what I was going to say beforehand.”
She added that the princess was “nice” and asked her what activities she likes to do in the water.
Following her trip to Hornsea, the royal went to Hull, where she officially opened a new St John Ambulance headquarters at Priory House. She was greeted by civic dignitaries, St John Ambulance officials and volunteers. From there, she set off to help mark the 146th anniversary of the Hull and East Riding Institute for the Blind, which is located in north Hull.
